The Course

History of Ocean View

Ocean View Golf Course was originally built by World War I veterans in 1929.  In 1930, the Virginian Pilot wrote “Ocean View Course Rises from Marshland.” With a price of just 60 cents, Norfolk residents hoisted their golf bags, got onto the trolley and began play at Ocean View.

The 18-hole course was designed by golf pro Johnny Kelly and Fred Bingham, who provided oversight to the construction with Bingham eventually managing the facility for the city.   In February 1951, the present day clubhouse was opened.

Ocean View Golf Course is among Hampton Roads' most memorable and enjoyable golf courses, and is proudly managed by Virginia-based Billy Casper Golf.

Today, Ocean View offers golfers hybrid Bermuda greens and plush, oak-lined fairways with many undulations and dog-legs. Most of all, the course presents opportunity for all players to enjoy a fair test of golf, regardless of golfing ability - all at a reasonable price.

We look forward to seeing you at Ocean View Golf Course!
